Everything else on this site is a bit — a fictitious luxury fan club, invoices no one pays, a front desk staffed by someone who doesn’t exist. This page is where the joke stops.

At twenty-two, I was diagnosed with pineoblastoma — a rare, aggressive cancer of the brain. I survived it. Many people who hear those words do not, and I have never fully made peace with the arithmetic of that: why I’m still here to build a ridiculous website, and others aren’t here at all.

Survivor’s guilt is a strange engine. But it’s a powerful one, and I would rather it built something than idle. So I pointed it at the one thing that actually changes those odds for the next person: research.

What the Foundation is for

The Gerhardt Foundation exists to raise money and awareness for brain-cancer research — the slow, unglamorous, wildly expensive science that decides who gets to survive a diagnosis like the one I got.

Brain cancers are rare enough to be chronically underfunded relative to how lethal they are. Rare doesn’t mean unimportant; it means fewer people fighting for the dollars. The comedy of this project is the hook. The research is the point.

The absurd dues fund it. The real support funds it. Every actual dollar goes toward the work.
